World water day Celebration, 2024

On 21 March 2024, World Water Day was celebrated under the aegis of the Department of Geography, Mohanlal Sukhadia University and Udaipur Water Forum, Citizen Science Lab, Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic College, Udaipur. In this program a lecture and dialogue session was taken on the topic of ‘Water for Peace’ by the famous water conservernist Dr. Anil Mehta and a visit to Suratan stepwell was organized. 36 M.A. students and research scholars of the department participated in the event. Through the lecture, Dr. Anil Mehta emphasized the importance of water conservation while appealing for world peace for water. Head of the Department, Prof. Seema Jalan suggested to save water in day-to-day work. After the lecture, all the participants went for a visit of Suratan stepwell. This 300-year-old stepwell has also been mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mann Ki Baat. Ms. Yogita took a sample of the water from this stepwell and taught the students to test different parameters of water through a field water testing kit. Through this program, students gained knowledge on many dimensions related to water. The program was coordinated by Assistant Professor Dr. DS Chauhan.
