Workshop on Air Pollutant Dispersion Modelling, 03.10.2020

A one-day national workshop has been organized by Department of Geography in collaboration with The Geographical Information System (TGIS) Lab, Ahmedabad on Air Pollutant Dispersion Modelling in online mode. Various resource persons from IIRS-ISRO Dehradun, SAC-ISRO Ahmadabad and TGIS were invited to deliver lectures related to different aspects of air pollution dispersion and their modelling. At the very outset Prof. Seema Jalan welcomed all the participants and resource persons. Ms. Urmi Sharma (Assistant Professor) co-coordinator of the workshop briefly discussed about the programme. The inaugural address was given by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MLSU Prof. Amarika Singh. Mr. Abhinav Mehta, Director, TGIS introduced participants with the TGIS. Dr. Yogesh Kant, IIRS-ISRO, Scientist S ‘F’, discussed upon Learning Opportunities in Atmospheric Sciences. The second session was taken by Dr. Mehul R. Pandya, Scientist, SAC-ISRO on which he talked about Environment Watch from Space for Air Pollution Monitoring. The post lunch session was followed by a hands-on on Air Pollutant Modelling using HYSPLIT by Mr. Saurav Kumar Ambastha from TGIS. There were around 84 participants from across the country. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Yadav (SRF), co-coordinator of the workshop presented formal vote of thanks in the end.
